Magnificent vistas from The River

With the opening of The River’s Bt100 – million sales office and three floors of show rooms at its 13-rai Chao Phraya riverfront site, developer Raimon Land is now witnessing a big surge in bookings.

Raimon’s chief executive officer Nigel Cornick says the landmark development is setting a new benchmark for prime riverfront properties in design and pricing. “Buyers who had put off their purchase, signed up once they saw the units,” said a sales executive.

“We knew it would be best to show what buyers are getting,” said Cornick. “The views and show apartments speak for themselves.”

Visitors came away with awe once they visited the show homes, realizing The River’s units offer some of the very best residences in town.

The starting price of Bt 95,000 a square metre becomes secondary to the fact that the location commands unparalleled views.

Cornick says the project has received accolades from professional builders, designers as well as global investors, many of whom are keen to acquire the freehold apartment as part of their portfolio in the Kingdom.

Considering that these apartments are fully furnished, the pricing is even more attractive, says Cornick who expects price to rise further once the market recognizes its true value.

Already The River’s duplex units are commanding a record price of Bt 180,000 a square metre. “Because of limited units, there is a waiting list for them.” said the CEO.

At the opening of the office, visitors were treated to a riverfront party that gave a glimpse of what residents can expect once they move in.

From the viewing room, they savour spectacular view of the surroundings.

In front is the shimmering Shangri-La Hotel with its wide frontage while a little further to the left is the legendary Oriental, which has served Bangkok for more that 130 years.

Its neighbour to the left is the Peninsula, considered one of the city’s best hotels.

This section of the Chao Phraya River is clearly the most sought after because of its colorful history.

It was here that Joseph Conrad took command of his first ship and where writers such as Somerset Maugham and Noel Coward visited on their journeys to Asia.

This was where much of Bangkok’s fame and glory was assembled and made famous in books and movies.

In short, there can be no duplication and there can be no substitute. In this sense The River may prove to be the latest proud addition to a magical waterfront that has moved people for past centuries.
